UFC Featherweight Champ. Alexander Volkanovski slammed Max Holloway for pulling out of their scheduled fight at UFC 272 and being offered as a backup fighter.
Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway were officially scheduled for their trilogy bout at UFC 272, But due to an undisclosed injury, Max Holloway was forced to withdraw from the bout.
Later, It was announced that fight would be shifted from UFC 272 to UFC 273, and Korean Zombie replaced Holloway.
After a few weeks of the announcement of this new bout, Holloway was medically cleared to start training, and it is being informed that he will be ready to serve as a backup fighter for Volkanovski Vs. Korean Zombie at UFC 273.
Volkanovski took it to Twitter to explain his suspicion of this whole situation. He also questioned Holloway’s legitimacy about being a backup fighter.
@BlessedMMA wants to be the backup fighter for the fight he was originally scheduled to fight. so in other words…he was never injured. Just hoping he doesn’t have to fight me or fight me while I’m preparing for someone…but hey “if you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying” … NO
