Speaking on MMAHour Leon Edwards said he wanted the fight to be five round fight but his opponent Jorge Masvidal turned down his approach and fight was settled to three round fight.
I asked the UFC for five round fight, I think he (jorge masvidal) turned down to make it three rounds.

He further shared his view on what it is like for him to fight for three rounds rather than five rounds.
I have been fought three rounds before their long time. Now I’m championship fighter, My last five fights was probably like five rounds. So, I’ll be looking forward to be able to sprint freely, I am looking forward to it.

Leon Edwards is currently ranked at no 3 in the Middleweight division of UFC. While Jorge Masvidal is currently ranked at no 6. They both are scheduled for three round fight at UFC 269.
Leon also said after this fight he has no interest in fighting any other guy than the champion. he is currently 9-0-1 in his last 10 fight.
UFC 269 will be headlined by Charles Oliveira vs Dustin Poirier & Co headlined by Amanda Nunes vs Julianna Pena.
