UFC president Dana White seems to be interested in making Alexander Volkanovski a backup fighter for Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev.

Alexander Volkanovski is been looking to make his move to the lightweight division for a year now. Especially after defeating Max Holloway for the third time he obviously deserves the title shot in another division.

Recently, Dana White has also responded to the idea of making Volkanovski a backup fighter for the UFC 280 main event.

The idea of Volkanovski as the backup fighter for the UFC 280 main event was mentioned to Dana White, he simply responded “sure” – indicating that it could actually happen.

Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev are set to fight at UFC 280 on October 22, 2022. This is considered one of the most anticipated bouts in UFC’s Lightweight history.
