UFC President Dana White has made a huge announcement for the winner of UFC 279’s main event between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz.
Nate Diaz & Khamzat Chimaev are scheduled to fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, next month in the main event of UFC 279.
The fight is a highly sought-after one as there’s been plenty of hype about the bout. This fight is also the final one on Nate Diaz’s contract with the UFC.
Dana White’s statement
In a recent interview with The Underground, Dana made an interesting statement about the winner of the next two PPV events.
He believes the next two PPV winners are likely to fight each other for the next title shot.
“I mean, obviously, if Nate beat Khamzat Chimaev, the No. 3 guy in the world, you’d have to look at Nate, too. Everybody’s talking … like that it’s impossible for Nate Diaz to win this fight. Nothing is impossible in fighting. Everything is possible.”
Dana White
Dana continued to back Nate Diaz as many fans criticized him for throwing Diaz to much tougher Khamzat Chimaev.
“Nate Diaz wanted this fight. It was either this fight or Francis Ngannou. This fight makes a lot more sense than Francis does. But, you know, for everybody to think that a veteran who’s as durable as Nate Diaz can’t win this fight is insane, so anything is possible. … You get out of the first two rounds and the fight gets interesting.”
