Former Featherweight champion Max Holloway has been cleared from medical injury suspension and offered to be a backup fighter from UFC 273 main event.

Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway was previously scheduled a trilogy bout against champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 272. The fight had a lot of fan demand behind it, which is why it was made regardless of Holloway being down 2-0 in the collection against ‘The Great’.

But soon after the announcement, Holloway pulled out of the fight citing severe medical injury. Then he was replaced by the number four ranked Korean Zombie (Chan Sung Jung).

After Holloway’s pullout, Many fighters, including Henry Cejudo, Calvin Katta, Giga Chikadze, jumped in to replace Holloway, but later it was made clear from UFC that the number four ranked Korean Zombie (Chan Sung Jung) is officially secured his title shot at UFC 273.

The exciting situation has happened, with just less than a month after Volkanovski vs. Jung became official bout, Holloway has been cleared from the medical suspension.

The ESPN’s Brett Okamoto first reported the news, He wrote, “Per sources, Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA) has been medically cleared from the injury that prevented him from fighting Alexander Volkanovski in March … he will resume training and has offered to weigh-in as a backup to Volk vs. KZ on April 9.”

It will be interesting to see if UFC offers him a backup spot or pull out Korean Zombie and give him his trilogy bout against champ Alexander Volkanovski.
