Ali Abdelaziz the manager of Islam Makhachev, Beneil Dariush & Justin Gaethje is seems to be caught in a very complicated situation where all of his three fighters are in the same division and almost close to fight for the title.
Speaking to TMZ sports, Ali Abdelaziz has expressed his thoughts on what he is planning for three of them. “Justin Gaethje is going to be next,(For the title fight)” Abdelaziz said. “Probably, Beneil Dariush is going to fight Islam Makhachev. Probably, you are going to see Beneil Dariush fight Islam Makhachev and Justin Gaethje is going to fight for the title probably in May.”
Meanwhile, Islam Makhachev and his mentors Khabib, Daniel Cormier has been arguing that Islam should get the next title shot instead of Gaethje.
Gaethje getting next shot is obvious until Conor get’s back to fighting. Because once Conor gets in there he is definitely going to take on Dustin Poirier and Gaethje will have to wait for 4-6 months more to get his title shot.
In that case UFC will be forced to do Gaethje Vs. Islam. But if we exclude Conor from the picture, Ali Abdelaziz’s plan sound much stronger with Gaethje getting the winner of Oliveira Vs. Poirier and Islam Vs. Dariush for the number one contender fight.
Considering the fact that Beneil Dariush is currently ranked at number 3 and Islam is ranked at number 4, It makes more sense for potential title eliminator.
